Background

UN Women coordinates and promotes the UN system’s work in advancing gender equality. UN Women’s Europe and Central Asia Regional Office needs the temporary assistance of an experienced web management consultant. The consultant will set up the regional office’s website on UN Women’s corporate web content management system (WCMS) in collaboration with regional office and headquarters staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Specialist and in close collaboration with the UN Women HQ Website Specialist, the web management consultant will do the following over this 6-month assignment: Consult with the regional office’s Communications Officer, other relevant regional office staff and the Website Specialist in UN Women headquarters to create a website development plan and structure. Set up the website on Sitecore, UN Women’s corporate web content management system (WCMS), with the guidance of the Website Specialist, including the site structure, information architecture, sections, pages, publications, articles and other features. Work with the Communications Officer to prepare content according to web content writing best practices and upload it to the website. Assign relevant metadata to uploaded content. Install and configure modules on relevant pages. Work with the Website Specialist and web developers in headquarters to identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on the WCMS. Train the Communications Officer and other relevant regional office staff on how to use the WCMS to add and edit content  Deliverables Timescale 1. Website development plan and structure (sitemap): draft version submitted Week 4 2. Website development plan and structure (sitemap): signed off by both the UN Women Regional Office and the global technical team Week 6 3. Website set up on Sitecore, including the site structure, information architecture, sections, pages, publications section, news section and other features as agreed in the sitemap Week 8 4. Initial training on the WCMS held for the Regional Communications Specialist Week 9 5. Initial basic regional content (drafted by the Communications Specialist) uploaded to the website and assigned with relevant metadata Week 12 6. Initial content from countries (drafted by the Communications Specialist) uploaded to the website and assigned with relevant metadata Week 15 7. Modules installed and configured on relevant pages Week 17 8. Homepage configured Week 19 9. Website tested, technical issues identified and resolved; testing report submitted Week 23 10. Final training on the WCMS held for the Regional Communications Specialist, including detailed handover notes on WCMS management and content editing Week 26

Required Skills and Experience

Education An undergraduate or Master’s degree in a relevant field (for example, web management, development or web communications). Experience At least 3 years’ experience with managing websites using web-based content management systems, preferably Sitecore. Proven experience with web taxonomies to categorize and tag web content, preferably with an understanding of gender-related issues. Proven experience in coding HTML and CSS according to the latest web standards. Proven experience providing training and technical support to WCMS users. Languages Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Turkish and/or Russian would be an asset. Application and selection process International Applicants are highly encouraged to apply. Evaluation of Applicants Candidates will be evaluated using a cumulative analysis method taking into consideration the combination of the applicants’ qualifications and financial proposals. The contract will be awarded to the individual consultant whose offer receives the highest score out of below defined technical and financial criteria. Only candidates obtaining a minimum of 49 points in the technical evaluation will be considered for financial evaluation.
