Background / General description:

IFC finances private sector investments, mobilizes capital in the international financial markets, helps clients improve social and environmental sustainability, and provides technical assistance and advice to governments and businesses in the developing world. 

Due to the growth of its business and portfolio activities, IFC is looking to recruit an experienced Investment Analyst (IA) in the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) department covering the Eastern Europe, Turkey, Central Asia and Middle East & North Africa region. The position is based in Istanbul. The IA will be part of the portfolio project investment & supervision team and will assist (i) portfolio investment staff on a wide range of activities related to portfolio management of individual investment projects, and (ii) new business investment staff predominantly on deal execution.

Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 2 year term appointment.
Duties and Accountabilities:
1. Provide analytical support to monitor operating and financial performance of client portfolio companies to evaluate risks and recommend active portfolio management actions.

2. Create and update financial models, analyze historical and projected financial statements and maintain updated financial information.

3. Prepare project supervision related documents (CRRs/XPSRs/equity valuation) and prepare other portfolio supervision related reports (director nomination, waivers, amendments and other memos/reports for internal or external audiences) under close guidance from investment officers.

4. Conduct industry, market and company research.

5. Track and record the development impacts of portfolio projects. Monitor compliance of portfolio companies with IFC financial, environmental, insurance and legal requirements.

6. Assist in preparing Information Memoranda and other project/investment-related documents.

7. Participate in client meeting and client relationship management activities.

8. Assist in coordinating the work of the whole IFC deal team including technical specialists, lawyers and other staff in IFC’s offices in the region and the IFC Head Quarters in Washington DC.
Selection Criteria:
1. (Under)graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related specialty from a reputed university.

2. Solid minimum two years of experience with a leading financial institution either in portfolio supervision, project finance and/or corporate finance. 

3. Ability to think independently, analyze problems and identify appropriate solutions. Strong analytical and conceptual skills including corporate/project finance and/or equity research. Excellent knowledge of Excel and proven ability to develop complex financial models.

4. Excellent organizational, administrative, multi-tasking and time management skills with proven ability to work promptly and efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 

5. Strong ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently with good presentation skills. Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic, French and/or Russian is a plus.

6. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with large, culturally diverse and geographically dispersed teams at all levels (inside and outside IFC) with demonstrated team spirit and responsiveness.

7. Willingness and ability to travel on short notice and frequently, as required.
