HAND IN HAND FOR SYRIA is looking for a MEDICAL COORDINATOR

Health Coordinator for Syria Conflict :
Hand in Hand for Syria is a British NGO providing humanitarian aid in the Syrian Conflict. The organization is based in Turkey with field offices inside Syria. Hand in Hand directly implements health care projects and also works in partnership with international NGOs. The organization was started in 2012 and has grown rapidly in the past 3 years to meet meet the needs of the Syrian people in this crisis. Hand in Hand has recently begun several large medical projects and has others in development. An experienced health coordinator with extensive international experience is needed to direct and manage Hand in Hand's medical/health projects. Location of the Work
Reyhanli, Turkey with occasional travel to Gazientep and Antakya
Type of Position
Full time 12 month contract with possibility of renewal
Skills and Education Required
  1. Doctor or nurse with current registration
  2. Master of Public Health desireable
  3. Excellent English skills-- speaking, reading, writing
  4. Arabic language is an advantage but not required
  5. Extensive international experience with International or Community based NGO
  6. Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, Email programs
  7. Able to develop and manage a Health Information System
  8. Extensive experience in proposal writing and in donor reports
  9. Able to organizes work for greater efficiency and accountability
  10. Maintains good working relationships with colleagues
  11. Demonstrates good time management skills
Responsibilities of the Job
  • Coordinates all phases of health care projects -- planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Responsible for ensuring that projects meet international standards and protocols in health and humanitarian aid. These include, WHO protocols, and Interagency Standing Committee guidelines, IMCI, etc.
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly with project staff in the field to ensure compliance with the project log frame and agreements with the partner agency.
  • Works closely with HIH data manager to ensure timely and accurate project data and donor reporting.
  • Is active in sector coordination meetings and activities, and maintains good relationships with other agencies.
  • Responsible for training in health care procedures, protocols, and treatments as needed and required by donor.
  • Participates in field assessments of new and existing projects.
  • Responsible for writing project proposals and concept papers in accordance with donor standards and guidelines.
  • Maintains project records in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Provides timely written reports on project activities and results and reports these against the stated project objectives and indicators required by the partner and donor.
  • Implements monitoring systems for all project activities, and ensures that means of verification are available for the partner or donor.
  • Participates in regular meetings with project partner(s) for discussion, reporting, and problem solving.
