Mercy Corps is an international humanitarian

assisting the most vulnerable among affected populations. This position is with
the registered Mercy Corps Representative office in Turkey. Mercy Corps Turkey
is currently seeking to fill the post of:
IT Assistant (Based in GZT)
Responsibilities:
1. Read and
understand the Mercy corps IT Systems Policy on appropriate use. Orient staff
on appropriate use and monitor use activities to ensure adherence to these
policies.
2. Conduct staff
training on computer basics and the use of MS Office applications and
networking. Assist, as needed, with developing databases or other windows
application needs for program and operational staff;
3. Stay abreast of
technologies and updates to existing software and operating systems in order to
maintain and provide better services to office needs;
4. Assist in the
identifying specification, relocation and assembly of any equipment including
computers, printers, accessories and satellite systems in MC Turkey offices, as
required;
5. Regularly update
anti-virus programs, Digital Library and World Trackers and ensure the entire
network and computers are virus-free;
6. Assist the
Logistics Manager and the Snr.IT Administrator in establishing a clear, back-up
system for the Mercy Corps office in Turkey and Syria. Ensure back up and
archives are made and stored as scheduled;
7. Undertake the
repairing and maintaining of internet systems and General IT maintenance
including photocopy Machine and training in the MC office, in coordination with
the Logistics Manager.
8. Oversee repair
of computers and IT equipment at a local level, when possible - facilitate and
advise on best, safest and most economic solutions in consultation with the
Operation Manager.
9. Identify
equipment and accessories required for the smooth functioning of computers and
IT equipment in Mercy Corps offices in Turkey. Facilitate the purchase of items
through the Procurement Department.
10. Maintain the
Mercy Corps mail server and assign addresses as instructed by the Snr.IT
Administrator
11. Assist in
administration functions as needed; assist the Asset Controller in inventorying
and tracking IT assets.
12. Maintain proper
documentation of all IT equipment including; warranties and IT
stock/accessories; Internet Agreement, Payment Schedule for the Internet use,
Organize and maintain central filing system of satellite systems in MC
Turkey
13. Responsible use
and confidentiality of any information identified as sensitive;
14. Advise MC
procurement departments on the purchasing of IT equipment including prices,
quality, systems etc.
15. Conduct
himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring
credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
16. Other duties as
assigned.
Qualification
A
minimum of 1 years' experience in information technology system (IT); a
relevant university degree in computer sciences is desirable; Experience in
both hardware and software requirements in local area networking (LAN); experience
in the configuration of internal email system as per the local area networking
(LAN); Exclusive knowledge of internet, proxy, pop mail, and TCPIP settings,
Experience for upright maintenance of all internet account, Logins and account
status; Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, Meet
deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is
required. Ability to troubleshoot, plan and design low maintenance systems is a
must. Ability to trouble-shoot and maintain both wireless and cable connections
is required. Must understand, follow and implement existing policies on IT
equipment use and best practices.
Turkish residency and
work permit are required.
